Seongsu Darak : Seongsu Brunch Spot

Seongsu Darak : Seongsu Brunch Spot

I’d already been to Seongsu Darak once, and the memory was so good that I ended up going back. The first time I only went because I kept seeing this crazy long line in front and got curious. After one bite, I understood the hype right away. And you know how second visits are often disappointing? Here it actually felt even more solid.

Interior

One big reason I wanted to come back was the interior. It’s a bit quirky in a fun way. There’s this “wall” that’s actually a hidden door, and when you open it, stairs appear and lead you up to another space. It really feels like you’ve discovered a secret attic.

Inside, they use a lot of wood, and since the name literally has the word “attic” in it, the whole place feels like a cozy loft. Warm lights, a slightly dim mood, and couples everywhere. Honestly, it’s perfect for a date.

We went on a weekday evening because weekends here are basically guaranteed waiting time, from opening until late. This time we were lucky and got in without lining up, but the place was still packed. If you sit by the window you can look out over the Seongsu streets, which I really liked.

Menu We Ordered

This time we went straight for their two most popular dishes:

- Omelette rice

- Spicy crab cream risotto

And because my friend is obsessed with truffle:

- Truffle french fries (side)

Food Review

Omelette Rice

I tried the omelette rice on my first visit and loved it so much I had to order it again. The plating is simple, no random decorations, just the colors of the sauce, rice, and egg making it look really appetizing.

The fun part is the little “event” they do: a staff member comes over and cuts the omelette open for you. When they slice it, the soft egg flows down both sides like a waterfall. Everyone at nearby tables kind of pauses to watch. It’s that kind of dish.

The lighting is warm so food photos come out really nice, and you constantly hear camera shutters going off. Totally social-media-friendly. The egg is as soft as it looks, and the sauce, even though it looks rich, isn’t too strong. It’s more deep and smooth than heavy, so you can keep eating without getting sick of it.

Spicy Crab Cream Risotto

For the second main, we went with the spicy crab risotto. I always feel like one dish has to be a bit spicy, and this one looked super creamy at first glance.

On top there’s a raw egg yolk. You pop it and mix it into the risotto before eating, and that makes the creaminess and flavor even stronger. The first bite is very soft and nutty, then a gentle heat comes in afterward. It’s not a harsh spicy, more like a clean kick that actually makes the cream feel lighter.

When the risotto started to feel a bit spicy, I followed it with a bite of omelette rice and the combo was perfect. I was honestly proud of our menu pairing this time.

There’s a crab leg on top that looks like just decoration, but there’s real chunky crab meat inside. You also get bits of crab throughout the risotto, but there was no fishy smell. The crab helps balance out the heavy cream so the whole dish feels well-balanced.

Truffle Fries

We were already pretty full from the two mains, but still ordered the truffle fries for my truffle-loving friend. Sweet-style fries covered generously with truffle, crispy outside and soft and hot inside. Honestly hard to go wrong with that.

Final Thoughts

Even on my second visit, I totally understood again why Seongsu Darak is always busy. The vibe is cozy, the food is reliable, and there’s that little bit of “show” with the omelette that makes it fun.

If you’re planning a year-end meet-up or a date in Seongsu and don’t mind potential waiting, I’d really recommend this place. Go on a weekday evening if you want a better chance of skipping the line.
